What the hike is
Dois Irmãos (“Two Brothers”) is the hill at the far end of Leblon beach. Visit Rio lists it among the sights you see from the sand at Ipanema. The usual way to the top starts in Vidigal, the community on the slope above Avenida Niemeyer, where the road climbs from the end of Leblon beach.
We looked for an official page with the trail’s length, time, difficulty and hours and did not find one. Rather than repeat figures from blogs, we leave them out. When you ask, the guide gives you a realistic estimate for your pace.
How the hike works with us
- Only with a guide from the community. The guide is from the community, knows the trail and leads the whole walk.
- Route confirmed on the day. The guide decides the route on the day according to local conditions.
- If conditions are not right, we move the hike to another date or refund your deposit in full.
- One contact. You deal with our team before and during the trip.
Our wider approach to visits in communities, and the official advice on them, is on our favela tour page. Read it before you book.
The walk step by step
- We pick you up at your hotel and drive you to the meeting point the guide confirms.
- You meet your guide and walk up through the community to the trailhead.
- The trail continues up the hill to the summit viewpoint.
- You come down the same way with the guide, and the car takes you back.
We do not describe the trail in more detail because no official source does, and the guide may adjust the route on the day.
Best time for photos
No official source gives opening hours or advice on light for Dois Irmãos, so the start time is agreed with the guide. We plan the time with the guide and the forecast. For other peaks with set hours, see the sunrise and sunset photo hike.

How we help
We find you a guide who knows the trail, so you won’t get lost, you walk at your own pace and get the shots from the best viewpoints. A photographer and a transfer from your hotel come on request. If you prefer a summit inside a national park with published hours, look at Pedra Bonita, or compare all seven on hiking in Rio.
Our fee is already included in the price. Price on request, proposal within 24 hours, and you pay nothing before you confirm.
