Flamengo and Fluminense both use the Maracanã as their home ground, so most big games in Rio happen there. Botafogo and Vasco da Gama play at their own stadiums, and we check the venue and entry rules for those games match by match. We have no ties with any club. We buy tickets the way any fan does, through the official channels.

Which match to pick

Club fixtures and kick-off times are confirmed close to each round, so we check the Flamengo and Fluminense fixture lists for your dates. The next big dates at the stadium:

Evening games start late, so you leave the stadium close to midnight. The Women’s World Cup brings nine matches to Rio, including the final; FIFA takes registrations of interest at FIFA.com/tickets but has not published sale dates. More dates for your trip: events calendar.

How Maracanã football tickets work

The home club sells its own games: Flamengo only at ingressos.flamengo.com.br, Fluminense through FutebolCard. Members buy first in tiers, then the general public gets what is left. General sale often opens only a few days before the game.

So a month before the game there is usually nothing to buy yet. We choose the match early and buy on the day general sale opens. We do not use resellers: the stadium only lets in the person whose face is linked to the ticket.

Named tickets: what to prepare

1. An account on the club’s sales site. One account can buy for several people, with each holder’s data entered separately.
2. Each holder’s document. Fluminense’s rules for the Libertadores semi-final asked Brazilians for a CPF and foreigners for a passport or DNI. Photos of documents are not accepted.
3. Face registration before buying: Fluminense at fluminense.bepass.com.br, Flamengo at biometria.flamengo.com.br. You register once per club.
4. The original photo document at the gate.

Rules for foreigners change from club to club and game to game. We collect each guest’s details, send step-by-step registration instructions and check everything is done before sales open.

Sectors

The stands are named after compass points: Norte, Sul, Leste and Oeste. How they are split depends on the game, and away fans sit in their own sector. If you support neither team, ask us for a mixed sector and leave rival colors at the hotel.

Maracanã Mais, in the west stand, is a hospitality area where you watch seated and a buffet with soft drinks comes with the ticket. Flamengo adds a meal and dessert.

Children: at Fluminense games, kids up to 6 go in with a legal guardian seated in the same sector; kids aged 7 to 11 need an adult over 18 with them.

Match day

At Fluminense games the gates close at the start of the second half, and late fans may be refused entry without a refund. Outside food and drink are not allowed. Flamengo sells parking separately, one space per buyer while they last; with a driver you do not need it.
