Two ways to book a photoshoot in Rio de Janeiro

Rio Content Tour. Our own format: a session with a partner photographer that moves between several Rio spots, for example a beach, a viewpoint and a street in Santa Teresa. You get variety in one outing, and we plan the order around the light and the transfers between spots. If you want a driver between locations, we add one, or combine the shoot with a private tour of Rio.

Single-location session. One place, one time slot, less moving around. It suits a sunset portrait at Arpoador, a family session on the beach or a short shoot before dinner.

Formats

  • Couples and anniversaries, including a session as part of a honeymoon in Rio.
  • Proposals: the photographer stays out of sight until the moment. See marriage proposals in Rio.
  • Families with children, planned at a pace that works for the kids.
  • Solo travelers who want good photos of themselves for once.
  • Content creators: we brief the photographer on vertical formats, video clips or a shot list.

Locations and the rules that apply

Place What to know
Arpoador Riotur, the city’s tourism office, places it between the Copacabana Fort and Ipanema Beach and calls its rocks the most beautiful place to watch the sea and the sunset.
Ipanema and Leblon Beachfront and promenade, good for relaxed couple and family photos.
Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas The lagoon with the hills behind, a calmer setting.
Selarón steps and Santa Teresa Tiled steps, old streets and colorful facades for street-style photos.
Mirante Dona Marta 360 m up in Tijuca National Park, with views over Sugarloaf, Guanabara Bay, Corcovado and the Maracanã. Open daily 8:00-17:00.
Sugarloaf The park bans commercial photography without its prior authorization, as well as drones and tripods. We plan around these rules.

In Tijuca National Park, ICMBio rules (IN 12/2025) say photos taken during public hours, in areas open to visitors, without disrupting the visit and following the park’s rules need no authorization. A shoot outside visiting hours, or one that changes the visitor routine, needs a special authorization. A cast, a set or temporary structures make it an event with its own ICMBio request. The park says it replies to image capture requests within 5 working days, and that external events needing ICMBio authorization at Alto Corcovado are suspended during the works there.

In the city’s public places, a small photo session (commercial or not) falls outside the events decree if it does not block traffic or pedestrians, uses no public area for parked vehicles, dressing rooms or equipment, and has no seating for spectators.

Best light

Early morning and the last hours before sunset give the softest light, and mornings are usually quieter at popular spots. We pick the slot for your locations and the season, and confirm the time in the proposal.

Rio’s beaches and streets are full of people. The photographer frames the shot around you, and anyone else who appears clearly in a photo is only included with their consent. If you want photos in a community, the favela tour page describes our separate Favela Photo Tour, with the same consent rule.

How it works in 4 steps

  1. You write to us with your date, format and the places you like.
  2. We check which partner photographer is available and send a proposal within 24 hours: plan, time, delivery, price and cancellation terms.
  3. You confirm and pay our deposit; you get the photographer’s details. The rest is paid to the photographer as set out in the proposal.
  4. On the day, we stay in touch until the shoot is done, and you receive the photos as agreed.

Our fee is already included in the price. Terms and payment are set out in the proposal; you pay nothing before you confirm.

Cancellation and weather

Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the shoot; later, the deposit is not refunded. You can move the date once with 48 hours’ notice if the photographer has another date. If the photographer cannot come, we find a replacement or refund the deposit in full. If the weather rules out the shoot, you choose a new date or a full deposit refund.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a photoshoot in Rio cost?

The price is on request and comes in our proposal within 24 hours. Our fee is already included, and you pay nothing before you confirm.

How many photos do we get and when?

The number of edited photos and the delivery time are agreed in the proposal for your session. We confirm them with the photographer before you book.

What happens if it rains?

We move the shoot to a new date or refund our deposit in full. Keep a spare morning or afternoon in your plan if you can.

Do we need a permit to shoot in Tijuca National Park?

Not for photos taken during opening hours in public areas, as long as they do not disrupt the visit and follow the park's rules. A shoot outside visiting hours needs a special ICMBio authorization, and a shoot with a set or temporary structures counts as an event.

Can we cancel?

Yes. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the shoot; after that, the deposit is not refunded. You can move the date once with 48 hours' notice if the photographer has another date.
