How we find Rio de Janeiro accommodation for you

You tell us your dates, who is travelling (with children’s ages), a budget per night or for the stay, and what has to be nearby: beach, metro, restaurants, quiet evenings, parking, a kitchen. Say whether you lean towards a hotel or an apartment and what level you want.

Within 24 hours we send a short list. Each option comes with photos, what the price includes (breakfast, cleaning, parking), and the payment and cancellation terms. You pick one, and we book it. The hotel or the apartment owner sets the cancellation terms, so we always write them in the proposal before you pay.

We also look past the listing. Is the metro within walking distance? How do you get to the beach with a stroller? What happens to car access on 31 December? Those questions decide whether a place works for your plans.

Rio areas in brief

If you plan a lot of sightseeing, stay near the metro. If the beach is the point of the trip, look at Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon or Barra. After that, dates and budget decide.

New Year’s Eve and Carnival: book early

The next New Year’s Eve is Thursday 31 December 2026, on Copacabana beach. Carnival’s Special Group nights at the Sambadrome are 7, 8 and 9 February 2027, according to LIESA. Details: New Year’s Eve in Rio and Rio Carnival.

Things to weigh on those dates:

• Copacabana closes on New Year’s Eve. For the last edition the city closed every access to the neighborhood to all vehicles from 21:00 on 31 December, and parking was banned on Avenida Nossa Senhora de Copacabana and Rua Barata Ribeiro from 6:00 on 30 December to 21:00 on 2 January. Staying in Copacabana means you walk to the beach, but no car can reach your door that evening.
• The metro is the easy way to the Sambadrome: Riotur sends odd-numbered sectors to Central do Brasil station and even-numbered sectors to Praça Onze. Staying near line 1 shortens the ride back in the early morning.
• If a hotel sets a minimum stay or special cancellation terms for holiday dates, we put that in the proposal.

Couples, families and friends

For a honeymoon we look for a sea view and a quiet floor. For a family trip we check bedrooms, a kitchen, cots and how far the beach is on foot. For friends travelling together an apartment with several bedrooms often works better than separate hotel rooms. If you are a larger party, we look for rooms in one hotel or a house for everyone.
