Executive cars and armored cars with a driver in Rio de Janeiro

We arrange executive cars and armored cars with a driver in Rio de Janeiro for executives, VIP guests, incentive and corporate groups, delegations and travel agencies: meet and greet at Galeão and Santos Dumont airports, a car by the day or for the whole stay, and several cars for a delegation. The proposal confirms each vehicle and, for armored cars, the protection level. You get it within 24 hours.

Updated:

What we arrange

  • Meet and greet at Galeão (GIG) and Santos Dumont (SDU) airports, with the car timed to the flight.
  • A car with a driver for a set number of hours a day, or for the whole stay.
  • Several cars for a delegation or a board visit, all on one schedule.
  • Armored cars with a driver, when your company or your guest asks for one.
  • Personal protection on request, through a private security company authorized by the Federal Police (see below).

A local provider we have vetted supplies each car and driver. You deal only with us and receive the provider’s details after you confirm.

Executive car or armored car

Option What it is Typical use
Executive sedan A sedan with a professional driver One executive, a speaker, a VIP guest
Executive SUV or minivan More seats and more room for luggage A small team, guests with a lot of luggage
Armored sedan or SUV A civilian car armored up to level III-A Guests whose company policy calls for armor
Van or minibus Seats and luggage space for the rest of the party Staff and luggage: see group transfers

The proposal confirms the model, seats and luggage space of each car, and the language the driver speaks.

How vehicle armoring is regulated in Brazil

In Brazil, armoring falls under the Army. The Regulation of Controlled Products (Decree 10.030 of 2019) names two services the Army regulates, authorizes and inspects: applying ballistic armor and renting out armored vehicles. Companies doing either must be registered with the Army.

Protection levels follow the Brazilian standard ABNT NBR 15000. Under the Army’s rules, an ordinary passenger car can be armored up to level III-A, which is tested against handgun rounds such as 9 mm and .44 Magnum. The Army’s Directorate of Controlled Products Inspection (DFPC) put new rules to public consultation in July and August 2025, and the revised rules came out in 2026.

Before we book an armored car, we ask the provider for the Army paperwork on the armoring and for the protection level, and both go into the proposal. Armor reduces some risks without removing them, so we do not describe any car or route as safe.

Armed security is a separate service

Brazil’s Private Security Statute (Law 14.967 of September 9, 2024) lists personal protection as a private security service. Only specialized companies with prior authorization from the Federal Police may provide it, and the Federal Police controls and inspects them. Decree 13.012 of June 9, 2026, which regulates the law, says personal protection is carried out by guards who have completed a personal protection course, armed or unarmed, under Federal Police rules.

We do not provide or promise security, and our drivers are not security guards. If you ask for personal protection, we source it from a company authorized by the Federal Police, ask it to show that authorization, and list the service as a separate item in the proposal. This section explains how the rules are organized and is not legal advice.

What official travel advice says

  • The US State Department rates Brazil at Level 2, “Exercise increased caution” (advisory of August 31, 2026). It mentions violent crime in urban areas, advises against informal or unregistered taxis and suggests checking that GPS routes are safe.
  • The UK Foreign Office (FCDO) says most Brazilian airports have authorized taxi booths and warns about unregulated drivers posing as ride-hailing drivers, especially at airports. It also notes that carjacking can happen, particularly on major roads and in tunnels.

For most visitors, a car booked in advance with a driver who knows the city takes care of these points. Some companies require an armored car for senior staff, and we book one when you ask.

Airport meet and greet

Galeão, officially Aeroporto Internacional Antônio Carlos Jobim, is Rio’s international airport. According to the cruise terminal operator, it is 16 km from Píer Mauá in the port district, about 25 minutes without traffic. Santos Dumont is 2 km from the same terminal.

  • The driver waits in the arrivals area with a sign. If you prefer, the sign shows a company name or a code, not the guest’s name.
  • We follow the flight and adjust the pickup time. Waiting conditions for long delays are in the proposal.
  • Guests on different flights get separate cars, so nobody waits for the last arrival. Departures are planned the same way.

By the day, for the whole stay, for a delegation

A car at your disposal for a set number of hours a day suits a schedule of meetings, site visits and dinners. When you book a car for the whole stay, we ask the provider to keep the same driver where possible. For a delegation, we plan several cars on one schedule, add a van for luggage or staff if needed, and give you one contact on our team for the whole program. The cars can also be part of an incentive trip or a group program.

What the price depends on

We do not publish prices. The price in the proposal depends on:

  • the car class, and whether the car is armored;
  • hours per day and the number of days;
  • the number of cars;
  • airport runs, waiting time and night hours;
  • trips outside Rio;
  • personal protection, if you ask for it, priced by the security company;
  • the dates, including New Year’s Eve and Carnival.

Our fee is already included in the price.

What to send us

  • Flights, or the dates and times you need the cars.
  • Passengers and luggage for each car.
  • Hotel and meeting addresses, and the hours per day or the program.
  • Whether you need an armored car or personal protection, and the language the driver should speak.

Booking and cancellation

  • A car booking can be cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before the service; after that, our deposit is not refunded.
  • If the provider or we cannot deliver, we find a replacement or refund the deposit in full.

Group bookings start from about 10 people. Groups of 50 and more are handled together with a large local receptive partner, and you keep one contact on our team. Terms and payment are set out in the proposal; you pay nothing before you confirm. Travel agencies get net rates or commission on request: see for travel agencies.

Write to us with the dates, the number of people and the cars you need. More on group transfers and how we work.
