What Búzios is like

Búzios (full name Armação dos Búzios) is a beach town on a peninsula in the Região dos Lagos, east of Rio. The city’s tourism office counts 23 beaches. According to the bus operator’s guide, the east side, with beaches such as Brava and Tucuns, gets more wind and bigger waves, while Ferradura and Ferradurinha on the west side have calmer water. In the evening people walk Rua das Pedras, the street of restaurants, bars and shops in the centre.

Búzios day trip from Rio or a few nights

A day trip from Rio is possible. You leave early, spend a few hours on the beach or the water and come back at night, so most of the day goes to the road. For couples and families we usually suggest one or two nights: you get a full beach day and a boat trip, and you drive back rested. If you land at Galeão and want to start with the coast, the transfer can take you straight to Búzios without a night in Rio.

How you get there

• Private transfer: door to door from your hotel in Rio or from Galeão, with a car sized for your luggage and child seats on request.
• Bus: RIOgaleão lists an Auto Viação 1001 line from Terminal 2 to Búzios. The airport does not publish the timetable, so check it with the operator for your date.
• A private driver for the whole day, if you want to stop on the way or come back late. See private driver in Rio.

On the water

Schooner trips leave from the pier at Orla Bardot and usually take three to four hours, according to the bus operator’s Búzios guide. On request we book a private boat for your group instead of a shared schooner, and we choose the route by the weather on the day.

Combine it with Arraial do Cabo

Our fee is already included in the price. Terms and payment are set out in the proposal; you pay nothing before you confirm. If the provider cancels, we find a replacement or refund the deposit in full, and if the weather rules out the boat, we move it or refund the deposit. You can change the date once at no cost with 48 hours’ notice if the provider has another date.
