Buying on the official channel

The official channel is Ticketmaster Brasil, at ticketmaster.com.br/event/riocarnaval. LIESA also has a ticket office at Rua da Alfândega 25, downtown. LIESA says it does not sell tickets through direct messages, WhatsApp or third-party links.

For the September stage, a virtual waiting room opened at 17:30 and at 18:00 the system put everyone in line in random order, so being early in the waiting room did not mean a better place. After the August general sale, buyers complained about the virtual queue, the site going unstable and failed payments, and LIESA asked Ticketmaster for a report.

Limits for the September 10 stage:

Seat type Limit Payment
Grandstand Up to 2 tickets per CPF per night, Champions’ Saturday included Any method the platform accepts
Sector 12 chair One pair per CPF per night Any method the platform accepts
Frisa One per CPF per night PIX only

Half price (meia-entrada) is a personal right: the ticket is issued in the holder’s name, and only that person can collect it, with proof of eligibility. Children’s half price does not apply in frisas or boxes.

After each stage, purchases are checked against the CPF limit and the rule that tickets are in the holder’s name and cannot be transferred. Irregular purchases are cancelled and those tickets go back on sale. LIESA also monitors resale ads above the official price and sends them to Ticketmaster for possible cancellation.

Can you buy without a CPF?

If you live in Brazil and have a CPF, you can buy on Ticketmaster in the open stages, within the limits. If you are travelling from abroad, LIESA’s published rules do not deal with foreign buyers. What they do say:

  • each stage’s limits are counted per CPF;
  • frisas are paid by PIX only;
  • the August pre-sale was only for Mercado Pago credit card holders.

Without a CPF, the practical routes are an agency, a commercial box or Sector 9, which LIESA says is sold by ABAV-RJ, the Rio travel agents’ association, for tourism. For your night, we make the booking and tell you in the proposal which details we need from each person. Check entry requirements for Brazil on official websites.

Sambadrome sectors: which one to choose

The Sambadrome has numbered sectors on both sides of the parade avenue: even (2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12) and odd (1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11). Sectors 12 and 13 are at the end, by Praça da Apoteose.

Sector Seat type Good to know
2, 4, 6 and 8 Grandstand, unnumbered Arrive early for a good view; the FC&VB-RJ guide calls the area by Sector 8 one of the best on the avenue
3, 5 and 7 Grandstand Odd side of the avenue
9 Grandstand with numbered seats Near the drum section’s recess; sold by ABAV-RJ for tourism, no half price
10 Grandstand A good view of the whole parade, per FC&VB-RJ
11 Grandstand Close to the drums; FC&VB-RJ suggests it for groups
12 Numbered chairs and a popular grandstand End of the avenue; the popular grandstand is sold separately
13 Popular grandstand End of the avenue; sale not yet dated

There are three other kinds of place:

  • Frisa: an open, fenced box by the track with seats and a private entrance, for 6 people; in sectors 2 to 11 the frisas are in rows A to D. Individuals can buy one frisa per night, companies two.
  • LIESA box (camarote): a covered, exclusive space with optional catering, valid for all Carnival nights. Boxes hold 15 or 18 people in sectors 2, 4, 6 and 8, 12 in sectors 3, 5, 7, 9, 10 and 11, and super boxes hold 30.
  • Commercial box: private boxes run by each organizer. According to FC&VB-RJ, they usually include an open bar, food and shows, and often a transfer.

Your sector also decides the route there: for odd sectors the metro station is Central do Brasil, for even sectors Praça Onze. In a taxi, give the driver your sector number.

Frisas: all six people collect the wristbands together

There is a new rule for 2027. According to Ticketmaster, as reported by Diário do Rio on October 7, 2026, all six people on a frisa must collect their wristbands together and register facial biometrics at pickup. Partial pickup or sending someone else is not allowed, and the tickets cannot be transferred.

In practice, all six need to be in Rio before their night. The pickup date and place have not been announced; if we book a frisa for you, pickup goes into your trip plan.

Children, gates and entry

  • The Sambadrome gates open at 19:00 on parade nights, according to LIESA.
  • Children must be at least 5 years old to enter, and a birth certificate may be requested.
  • In frisas and boxes children pay the full price: half price does not apply there.

How we book

We book seats on every night and of every type: grandstands, numbered chairs, frisas, LIESA boxes and commercial boxes. We buy only through official channels, at face value, and stay within each stage’s CPF limits. Availability is confirmed in the proposal, which reaches you within 24 hours.

What we take care of: we choose the night, the sector and the seat type with you, make the booking, plan the frisa wristband pickup when there is one, and arrange transport there and back around the road closures, with a guide who speaks your language and walks you to your sector. The guide’s language is confirmed in the proposal.

To book, you pay our deposit. For Carnival, the deposit is not refundable once you confirm, because we buy the seats for you. Terms and payment are set out in the proposal; you pay nothing before you confirm. For the wider plan, from flights in to the last night, see our Rio Carnival 2027 guide and airport transfers in Rio.
